Wonder what we’re up to at GLAAD?
Be sure to check out GLAAD Blog each week for updates about our latest work to build support for LGBT equality through news, entertainment and online media.
A two-article spread in Bloomberg Businessweek was published discussing the importance of LGBT-inclusion in the workplace and the growing number of companies advertising to the LGBT community. GLAAD worked with Businessweek to develop the articles, marking one of the first times the business magazine has covered LGBT inclusion in the workplace.
- GLAAD worked with the Justice League at the Blake School in Minneapolis offering media training and assistance with the planning of an October 11 rally that will address the importance of safe schools.
GLAAD urged media outlets to cover LGBT-inclusive stories during the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 in an effort to reflect the diversity of people affected by the attacks. GLAAD also highlighted a number of LGBT-inclusive 9/11 stories on GLAAD Blog.
- After working with GLAAD, progressive Christian magazine Sojourners committed to publishing a series of blog posts which highlight the rates of homelessness facing LGBT youth. A piece posted on September 6 features an interview with Carl Siciliano, President and Founder of the Ali Foreny Center; in the interview, Siciliano discusses the disproportionate rates of homelessness facing LGBT youth.
