More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.
Professor Jennifer Finney Boylan pens guest column in The New York Times
Widely acclaimed author and GLAAD Board Member Professor Jennifer Finney Boylan will take to the op-ed pages of The New York Times this month as the substitute for columnist David Brooks, with her first column, titled “This Astronomical recession,” debuting today.
Boylan now becomes the first transgender woman to serve as guest columnist for the Times – an achievement that falls in a long line of ‘firsts’ for the trailblazing advocate. Boylan’s memoir She’s Not There, published by Doubleday in 2003, was one of the first bestselling works by a transgender American, and she’s been a frequent guest on such programs as The Oprah Winfrey Show, the Larry King Show and the Today Show among others.
Be sure to look out for Professor Boylan’s other columns in the Op-ed pages of The New York Times throughout August!
