Adam Lambert to Mentor Young Artists on The Hub

Adam Lambert has signed up to be one of several celebrity mentors on an upcoming reality program on the children’s cable network The Hub. Lambert joins an impressive cast of artists who will share their knowledge with young talent from around the country. Additional mentors include Avril Lavigne, Colbie Caillat, Claude Kelly, Brandy, Leona Lewis, Jordin Sparks, Sean Kingston, Mike Posner and Ryan Tedder of One Republic.

The Cast of Majors & Minors

Majors & Minors will follow 12 young artists, ages 10 to 16, from around the country as they train to become successful recording artists. The participants will work with mentors in a collaborative environment, and while none will be eliminated, only one will have the opportunity to win a recording contract with the RCA/Jive Label Group and the chance to go on tour. Adam Lambert has had a successful career following his near-win of the eighth season of American Idol in 2009, and he will surely have a lot of advice to share with the Majors & Minors’ cast about the music industry. The show will premiere on September 23, 2011.
Recently, Lambert performed his new single "Outlaws of Love" at Le Festival Ste-Agathe en Feux in Quebec in front of thousands of fans. Lambert drew from his personal experience to write the song, about which he said:
All of the things I've been talking about over the past year, all of it boils down to acceptance and this is a song that I wrote about how it feels, that no matter where you go or where you turn, sometimes it feels like you're just running from the law.
The lyrics of "Outlaws of Love" seem to reflect the struggles faced by some LGBT youth, including rejection and homelessness. With lyrics such as “Nowhere to grow old. And always on the run” and “Scars make us who we are. Hearts and homes are broken, broken,” the song is an homage to the difficult realities of growing up in an unaccepting environment. Lambert himself has spoken out as an advocate for LGBT youth and he donated proceeds from the acoustic single of his song  "Aftermath" to the Trevor Project.  Watch his performance of the song below.
