Wonder what we’re up to at GLAAD?
Be sure to check out GLAAD Blog each week for updates about our latest work to build support for LGBT equality through news, entertainment and online media.
GLAAD was on the ground in New York City helping couples share their stories as marriage equality became a reality in the Empire State. GLAAD distributed key talking points to over 400 couples, conducted media trainings at the Manhattan City Clerk’s Office and connected media with couples from across the 5 boroughs. GLAAD-trained couples appeared in outlets such as The Associated Press, Reuters, USA Today, The New York Times, NBC Nightly News, BBC and more.
- GLAAD's Spanish-Language Media team worked with Latino/a couples from across New York to help share their stories in both English and Spanish-language media, including Fox News Latino, The Houston Chronicle, EFE and Associated Press en Español. GLAAD also worked with the editors of the popular English-language magazine Latina, which profiled Lillian Rivera and her partner Elsa.
- As part of GLAAD’s “Stand Up for New York. I do” campaign, GLAAD helped thousands of Facebook and Twitter users show their support for marriage equality in New York by adding ‘I <3 NY’ icons to their profile pictures.
GLAAD continued its National People of Color Media Training Institute this weekend in Los Angeles. The Media Training Institute, funded by the Arcus Foundation and created specifically for people of color who are LGBT or LGBT allies, aims to develop a group of passionate and visible leaders to speak in national media outlets about issues that impact the lives of LGBT people and their families.
