More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.

All eyes were on New York today as loving gay and lesbian couples began marrying in the Empire State for the very first time. GLAAD staff are on the ground in New York City at the Manhattan City Clerk’s Office offering media trainings and assistance to more than 400 couples who will exchange vows today.
