Jay Bakker, son of Tammy Faye, is garnering major media coverage with his new book, Fall to Grace: A Revolution of God, Self and Society.
Jay Bakker participated in a 2008 two-day GLAAD media training session and continues to be an effective and bold ally of LGBT people.
With an appearance on the Today Show and features in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, NPR, Religion News Service, and Project Q in Atlanta, Bakker reached millions with his personal story of his family’s fall from grace and his own understanding of God’s generous grace being available to everyone.
Bakker often talks about how the RuPaul narrated award-winning documentary, “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” helped the LGBT world embrace his mother as an icon and how she loved them in return. She often appeared in pride parades until her death from cancer in 2007.
Jay’s collaborations with GLAAD include talkbacks on the acclaimed theatrical production “Last Fall,” a 2008 GLAAD Media Award nomination for the documentary “One Punk Under God,” and ongoing support for his efforts to use his platform to make a difference in the lives of LGBT people from all walks of life.
