More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.
2010 Advertising Week to Host Several LGBT Events
The 2010 Advertising Week will prove to have a strong LGBT presence with the announcement of three events, reflecting an increased interest from marketers to reach out to the LGBT community.
The free panel, led by Stuart Elliot of The New York Times, will be held from 11:00 – 11:45 a.m. at the Paley Center – Concourse Theatre. Panelists will include representatives from MTV's LGBT-focused cable channel Logo, Microsoft, American Airlines and Prime Access.
To RSVP for this panel, please visit www.advertisingweek.com. You can also follow the panel discussion on Twitter using #LGBTAdWeek
In addition, the Advertising Research Foundation will host its first LGBT council aiming to assist marketers in reaching the community. The seminar will provide insights on how to advertise to LGBT consumers and seize opportunities with the growing market segment by answering questions such as:
- How do marketers put a value on the size of the LGBT consumer opportunity?
- How do marketers effectively communicate with this audience?
- How can marketers evaluate the ROI of their LGBT marketing investment?
The event will take place on September 29th, 2010 from 2:30 to 4:30PM, just a few hours prior to the 2nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Advertising during which GLAAD will honor advertising and marketing professionals for their fair, accurate and inclusive images of the LGBT community.
