In celebration of the release of "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell: Volume 2," the works of photographer Jeff Sheng, featuring the stories and portraits of servicemen and women affected by the DADT policy will be on display at the Kaycee Olsen Gallery in Los Angeles.
The exhibit will feature 20 previously unseen images in which Sheng furthers the static poses seen in Volume 1 by dramatizing and activating his subjects in order to resonate the personal stories behind each photograph.
Sheng's work was recently highlighed on ABC's World News with Diane Sawyer. GLAAD worked with Sheng to develop crucial talking points and prepare him for an interview with veteran ABC journalist Bob Woodruff. Additionally, Sheng's work has appeared in The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times and TIME magazine among several other outlets.
Images from Sheng's new series will be on display from September 18 to October 23, 2010. The artist will be present on the 18th from 5:30 to 6:00pm for a talk and walk-through followed by a reception in his honor. In addition, Sheng will be signing his book on September 25th from 7:00 to 9:00pm at Hennessey & Ingalls in Hollywood.
