More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.
Progressive Radio Host Stephanie Miller Comes Out
Progressive talk show host Stephanie Miller came out as a lesbian last week. Miller, who is also a comedienne, told her audience on Friday she got the courage to come out from country music star Chely Wright, who came out earlier this year, and was a guest on Miller's coming out show. Miller told Wright “You get a toaster oven for recruiting me.”
Miller grew up with two conservative parents. Her late father, attorney and congressman William Miller, was Barry Goldwater's running mate in the 1964 presidential election.
Her show airs Monday through Friday, 9AM-12PM Eastern, and is syndicated throughout the country. (click the link for a list of stations.) GLAAD congratulates Stephanie Miller for taking such a big step, and we wish her all the best.
