The US Senate voted 63-37 on Thursday to confirm current Solicitor General Elena Kagan, to the United States Supreme Court. Five Republicans (Lindsey Graham, Dick Lugar, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, and Judd Gregg) joined all but one Democrat (Ben Nelson) in supporting Kagan. She becomes the 112th person to sit on the US Supreme Court, and the fourth woman. Many of Kagan's opponents cited her decision as Dean of Harvard Law School not to directly sponsor military recruiters on campus, because the military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy violates Harvard's non-discrimination policy.
