Demand that Real World Star Stop Anti-Gay Violence Threats on Twitter

UPDATE: Real World: New Orleans star Ryan Leslie responded via Twitter after activists and allies tweeted him this evening regarding his threat of anti-gay violence. Leslie responded, "No gay hate here."

Ryan's original tweet was a clear example of anti-gay hate speech and GLAAD urges supporters to continue tweeting their concerns.

Yesterday a gay Twitter user made comments that MTV's Real World: New Orleans cast member Ryan Leslie was homophobic, Leslie returned the accusation with homophobic threats of anti-gay violence to the user on Twitter.

Ryan tweeted from @imRyanLeslie: "@aurosan I would love to see you in person, and smash your gay f*cking face in."

Ryan and his followers need to know that anti-gay violence is a dangerous and pervasive problem plaguing our community today. This month The National Coalition of Anti-Violence Programs (NCAVP) released its report on hate violence against the LGBT community in the United States in 2009. This year, 22 victims of hate murder were reported by NCAVP, the second-highest rate in a decade.

GLAAD tweeted at Ryan and urges you to do the same:

Tell @MTV Real World's @imRyanLeslie: stop threatening anti-gay violence on Twitter. http://bit.ly/dqUh6i #LGBT #gay
