More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.

Georgia teen Derrick Martin and his boyfriend, Richard Goodman, spoke at the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards in San Francisco on June 5. Martin, 18, attracted national media attention after administrators at his rural Georgia high school allowed him and his boyfriend to attend prom together earlier this year.
