More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.
Queer Lounge: Early Observations
It's opening day at Queer Lounge and already it's choc full of LGBT film lovers -- and their allies -- enjoying Absolut cocktails, HP computers and bobbing their heads along to some killer dance tracks.
For those of you who haven't experienced the Lounge firsthand, all you need to know is that it's three stories of fabulously-decorated rooms filled with interactive media, free Izzie and Cheetos, movie posters, friendly volunteers and lots and lots of great people attending Sundance. Anyone is welcome to come in from the cold, take off their coats, and settle into a comfy couch to check their email (or write a blog post, like yours truly!). There's Wi-Fi for those who travel Main Street with their laptops in hand, or there's also a nook with six HP notebooks that are super-easy to use (even for a Mac girl like me).
At the moment, everyone's buzzing about the 5:00 cocktail party, Thank GLAAD It's Friday (TGIF). This is GLAAD's first TGIF event in Park City, and our membership events coordinator Elliott Elsner promises to deliver a stylish and exciting event. Be sure to come back tomorrow for pictures and video.
If you're already at Sundance, be sure to swing by the Queer Lounge anytime during the day. All are welcome!
