BREAKING NEWS: Ellen DeGeneres has purchased $100,000 of television air time for the No on 8 campaign. The air time will be used to broadcast a message she recorded in opposition to the Proposition 8 ballot measure that seeks to eliminate same-sex marriage in California.

The video was first released on Ellen's website Tuesday, and may be viewed by clicking here. In the message, she alludes to her own recent wedding to Portia de Rossi, calling it "the happiest day" of her life. Minor changes will be made to the recording before it airs on TV, including adding a necessary legal disclaimer. It is not yet known which media markets will be targeted.

Ellen's move comes after widespread commentary within the LGBT community about what might constitute the "appropriate" level of political involvement for the popular out personality.

In related news, vice presidential candidate Senator Joe Biden (D-Delaware) will be a guest on Ellen's show this Monday, and will come out against Prop 8 during his appearance.
