More than 1,500 New Yorkers gathered today in Manhattan to mourn the death of a 32 year-old gay man, who was shot down on Friday just blocks away from the historic Stonewall Inn in an apparent act of anti-gay bias.

The 12th Hollywood Film Festival will be honoring Dustin Lance Black and James Franco as part of a group of breakout talent at the Hollywood Awards Gala on October 27.
Black -- the writer of upcoming Harvey Milk biopic Milk -- will be named Breakthrough Screenwriter of the Year, while Franco is being lauded for acting skills that will be on display in the same film. Congrats, gentlemen!
